Happy Holidays 2011

It's been quite some time since I last written.  I've been busy :)  As you can see by the photo above I have met someone new.    Now, I will tell you the story of how we met.
As you know,  I have been learning to build.  While taking a class at Builder's Brewery, this man was sitting in front of me.  I noticed his name first.  His name is Wrong Wright.  Cute, huh?  Soooo, of course I had to strike up a conversation with him.  What a better way then to tell him I love his name!  It just so happens that we were in a class to learn how to make sculpties on this one program.  Well, as you can see...I didn't succeed!  I can't even remember the programs name, but I certainly remembered Wrong's name.  We chit-chatted that day but didn't start talking til a week or so later.
Since then, He has become a special part of my Second Life.  He makes me laugh and smile.  He challenges me even though I don't think he knows it.  I just wanted you all to meet  him and I wanted to thank him being a part of my Second Life.  I heart you, Mr. Wright!! ♥♥♥

Wishing all my friends a Wonderful Holiday and a Very Happy New Year!!
Good-bye 2011

Building A Boat...

Due to unforseen circumstances in my SL, I have been dealt with a lot of free time.  I have decided to take up building.  Fortunately, while hanging with my friend, Attica we went to a sim called Dreams.  She is a builder and has been a member of Dreams for quite a long time.

While under the guidance of my teacher, Gekkie Kidd,  I was challenged to enter the "Build a Better Boat"  Contest.   This contest had 31 participants.  The photograph above is a photo of myself in my boat, The May Flower.   This was among many creative and interesting builds.  There were a Banana Split boat,  a mouse trap boat,  a speed boat,  a bathroom boat, and many many more.  Although, I wasn't awarded a prize,  I came out of this experience with knowledge of building and the pride of accomplishment.  Congratulations to the winners!!

I would like to share information on the Dream Sim.   The following has been taken from a notecard available to all on the Sim.  It is a great place to learn, and a great place to meet wonderful people.

Dreams was started in Luo in July of 2005, after having a home for a number of months in Manua.

The Sojourner (Soj) , Rick Kent, Amalthea Blanc and a few others  started Dreams in Luo to accomplish a number of dreams:
1.  To provide a base for creative interaction among people in SL.
2.  To provide an area for teaching, holding discussions, and holding events.
3.  To provide a support base for people who encounter strokes (brain attacks) in their own lives or in the lives of their loved ones.

Not everyone dreams the same.  Some people need a bit of isolation, others need to play off of each other.   Dreams is here to provide that variety.  Most of all, it is here to provide support, learning, and fun.

The Dream Travelers are the dreaming force on this land.  They are Seekers, Spinners, and Weavers. They are Travelers and even when they dont carry the distinction over their heads, they will shift and turn as the mists of dreams do.  Things that are attempted but don't work out are the stuff of new dreams.  But, oh, when they do reach fruition, what a wonderful time it is!!

The most important thing here is to find a way to take what is in each one of us and to explore it.. turning it inside out and back again... and then to pursue something that we have thought to be beyond us, having a place among friends to do that.

Dreams is also the activity base for  􀀔, a group of stroke-survivors, family members, and others interested in stroke/brain attacks.

In addition, we host the  Brigadoon Explorers who are individuals who have or are interested in Asperger Syndrome and autism.

Contact Ariel Miranda to find out about the weekly meetings (Wednesdays at 5 pm PST).

Our newest group, the ADD/ADHD Support Group 2.0 are  for those who have or are interested in ADD/ADHD.  They meet twice weekly' 1 pm on Mondays and 6 pm  on Tuesdays.  For more information contact Sophia Krell or Aerial Karu.

EDUCATION AT DREAMS

Education is a strong part of Dreams. Learning happens in a variety of ways, which aids learners of all types.

Formal classes given by teachers with different styles cover topics like simple build projects to scripting to building techniques to creating your own textures or avatars.

Informal learning happens in the sandbox or after class as people ask questions and get answers about topics related to the Second Life experience or just life in general.

Discussions and support groups help participants gain a better understanding of themselves or others, as well as get support from other people who may be going through similar situations.

Learning is an important part of improving ourselves, regardless of where we're starting out. Some may be recovering from strokes or other brain injuries, finding that the challenges of Second Life help them regain functioning plus new skills. Others may be homebound or in search of new outlets. Learning Second Life, building, scripting or other things broadens horizons.

What will YOU learn?

Sleep Sweet Lovely Hepzi...

People come into our life for either a reason, a season, or a lifetime.  Very rarely do they cover all three, but Miss Hepzibah Foxclaw covered it for me.  Hepzi, as we called her, was a Second Life Resident, Blogger, and Plurker.  I was fortunate to first get to know her on Plurk.

She was the kind of Plurker who greeted everyone every morning and evening with sweet words.  Always made you feel warm inside.  She gave out hugs (cozy) and kisses (girlkiss) almost each and every day.   She always called us lovelies, even if we didn't feel lovely that particular day. She had a way of making Plurk a brighter place.

One day, while I was inworld working on a preview blog for a SL Event, I had an opportunity to finally meet Hepzi.  I was standing looking at some beautiful outfits when she tp'd in.  I really felt fangirlish.  I have always thought Miss Hepzi was beautiful, and that they way she blogged and presented each item was superb.  If I would have to pick a blogger who I would most like to aspire to be like...it would be her.  From that day on,  Hepzi and I talked more...we became friends.

A few months ago,  Hepzi was in a terrible automobile accident in RL.  She had sustained many injuries.  We had talked and she seemed to be on the mend.  Her spirits seemed high, and she continued on.   Then she seemed to disappear.  I had wondered what had happened.  Recently, I found out that Hepzibah had passed away on February 17, 2011.

Going back to the reason, season, lifetime....I realize the reason I met this wonderful woman was because of our involvement in this virtual world called Second Life and Plurk.  The season was actually the time we had talked and communicated.  And the lifetime will be the memories I have of such a sweet person that she was.  I will forever carry with me how she always thought the best of people.  She will make me a better person because of it.  She was always a ray of sunshine, always someone to look forward to talking to.

In closing,  I want to share the content of her last Plurk.  She wrote...gonna cuddle on the couch for a while...see you later lovelies (cozy).  Yes, Sleep Sweet Lovely Hepzi...we will meet again.   Thank you for being my friend.  Love & Miss You Lots!! (cozy)
